In addition, we work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists, dietitians, and psychologists, to offer you a wide range of integrated care. Our goal is not only to treat symptoms, but also to support you in achieving a healthier lifestyle and a better quality of life.

We would love to hear from you if you have a tip, compliment, or complaint. For your convenience, we’ve placed links to the relevant forms at the bottom of our web pages in the orange footer. Of course, these forms are also available for you at our practice.

Can you switch to a different general practitioner?

It’s usually possible to choose your own general practitioner and also to switch to a different one. However, a GP may refuse to accept you as a patient in certain situations—for example, if you live too far away.

When do I need a referral letter from my general practitioner?

For specialist care, such as in hospitals, you need a referral letter.

Referral letter for specialist care
The general practitioner will only provide a referral if it is medically necessary. If the GP believes the referral is not beneficial for you, they may refuse to give one. In that case, your GP must clearly explain why they are not providing a referral.

Specialist care without a referral
If you don’t have a valid referral letter and still visit a specialist, you may have to pay for the treatment yourself. In some cases, you won’t be treated until you have the proper referral.

If you choose to pay for the treatment yourself, no referral is needed. However, you won’t be able to submit the bill to your health insurer afterward.

Do I have to pay for the costs of a general practitioner myself?

Your health insurer pays the bill from your general practitioner directly.
The care you receive from your GP is covered by your health insurance, and visits to the GP do not count toward your mandatory deductible. However, if your GP needs to carry out additional tests—such as a blood test to determine what care you need—those costs do fall under your deductible. The same applies to any medication prescribed by your GP.

Want to know exactly what is covered, such as for medication or blood tests? The best thing to do is to ask your health insurer, as coverage can vary depending on your specific policy.

Coverage of primary care
For other types of primary care, such as treatment by a dentist or physiotherapist, reimbursement depends on your health insurance plan and may not be fully covered.
